The stage is set, The lights are on and the Basketball Africa League (BAL) is back—bigger, louder, and more electrifying than ever.
BAL President Amadou Gallo Fall has saluted the league’s surging momentum ahead of the 2026 season, highlighting a record-breaking wave of partnerships that signal African basketball’s unstoppable rise.
Speaking at the official launch of the 2026 Kalahari Conference at SunBet Arena in Pretoria, Amadou Gallo Fall revealed that 15 marketing and merchandising partners—including five major new additions—are locking in for what promises to be a blockbuster season.
Heavy hitters like Amazon Web Services, PUMA, and Qatar Foundation are stepping onto the BAL court for the first time, joining a strong lineup of returning partners such as Rwanda Development Board, Wilson, AB InBev, and Hyundai.

“This is more than growth—it’s a movement,” Fall declared. “These partnerships show the world is watching, investing, and believing in African basketball. Season 6 is going to take fan engagement to a whole new level.”
And the numbers back it up.
The BAL is set to reach fans in over 200 countries and territories, covering every corner of Africa. Last season alone, the league pulled in 140,000 live fans and generated a staggering 1.2 billion digital impressions—proof that the game is not just growing, it’s exploding.
NBA Africa CEO Clare Akamanzi made it clear: this is only the beginning.
“Basketball is not just sport—it’s business, culture, and opportunity,” she said. “It connects with Africa’s youth, and it scales globally. The future? Even bigger. Even bolder.” She also teased long-term ambitions, including a potential franchise model aimed at building deeper investments and a stronger basketball ecosystem across the continent.

Inside the SunBet Arena, the hardwood is ready to ignite. Fans can expect high-intensity clashes as Africa’s top talent goes head-to-head. Libyan giants Al Ahly face off against Rwanda’s RSBB in a battle of pride and power while home crowd favorites, the Johannesburg Giants, are set to make a statement in their debut, taking on Tanzania’s Dar City with everything to prove.
