At the onset of the encounter between Bangui Sporting and conference favourites Al Ahly, who remained undefeated in the group, may have been anticipated to be an uneven matchup. However, the game commenced with surprising competitiveness.

The first quarter concluded with the local club's mere three-point lead, signalling an intense battle ahead. The scoreboard read 18-21. This narrow gap persisted until the conclusion of the second period, with the local club maintaining its lead, now extending it to five points.

With just three minutes remaining in the third quarter, Al Ahly seized the opportunity to widen the gap, concluding the period with a six-point lead at 57-63. With both teams trading buckets going into the final quarter, the final result remained uncertain, with Bangui refusing to relent and Al Ahly striving to maintain their advantage.

In a pivotal moment, Bangui took the lead for the first time in the game, courtesy of a three-point shot from Thierry Darlan. However, their joy was short-lived as Al Ahly quickly regained control, extending their lead to seven points at 70-77.
