The game opened slowly, with neither team scoring in the first minute. The deadlock was finally broken by Kayana Traylor, who buried a perfectly timed three-pointer. Moments later, the arena erupted as Nadine Mohamed pulled up on the fast break and drilled a three of her own—an early sign of the fireworks to come.
Al Ahly then seized control with an 8–0 run highlighted by six points from Hagar Amer. Both teams began trading baskets, with Kristina King finding her rhythm alongside Traylor, but Al Ahly closed the quarter firmly on top. Back-to-back threes from Nadine Mohamed and Nyamer Lual Diew stretched the lead to 27–12.
Kristina King opened the second quarter with a smooth mid-range jumper, but Al Ahly’s depth quickly shone through as Meral Abdelgawad knocked down a three-pointer and then set up Delicia Washington for a fast-break layup.

Kristina King kept REG afloat with six straight points, but Al Ahly’s offensive arsenal remained relentless as they pushed their lead to 20. REG briefly responded with a 7–0 run, only for Al Ahly to answer immediately with a surge of their own. The quarter closed in style as Ange Irakaze and Rose Macuei traded three-pointers, but Al Ahly remained firmly in command, heading into halftime up 45–26.
Al Ahly opened the third quarter flawlessly. Asia Strong knocked down a jumper, followed by a Hagar Amer three-pointer, capping a defensive stretch that held REG scoreless for the first two minutes. Hope Butera and Kristina King combined to trim the deficit back to 20, and Kayana Traylor carried the scoring load with seven consecutive points. But REG’s defensive lapses proved costly, allowing Al Ahly to maintain control. A late Promise Amukamara three-pointer reduced the gap to 22, yet Al Ahly cruised into the fourth quarter with a comfortable 66–44 lead.

For Al Ahly, the fourth quarter was all about protecting their advantage, and they did so with maturity and composure. They answered every REG push, with Raneem Elgedawy consistently scoring, securing rebounds, and disrupting any hopes of a comeback.
Running out of options, REG increasingly leaned on three-point attempts; although Lamla Umenezero and Odile Tetero connected from deep, the gap remained far too wide. Kayana Traylor continued to draw fouls and get to the free-throw line, but Al Ahly’s discipline on both ends ensured the result was never in doubt. In the end, Al Ahly closed out a commanding 88–60 victory.
Kristina King had the following to say in reflection of the game: “ I feel like we started a little weak. We needed to have a little more intensity. We got behind early and that’s not always fun to be chasing a team.” She added that they will work and get better so they can be a different team when they meet again.
Meanwhile, Hagar Amer added the following to say as her team went up 2-0: “ REG is a very good team and we prepared very well with Coach Tarek. We played very good team, defense and team offense we succeeded in finishing the game.”
With that, both teams look forward to the next and final group stage game that could affect the outcome of their season.
