Game Review: Cameroon vs Senegal

In a pivotal Game 3 of the FIBA U18 Men's AfroBasket group A, Senegal claimed a crucial win over Cameroon, positioning themselves for a quarter-final ticket. The Senegalese capitalized on Cameroon's collapse in the second half to secure a much-needed victory in Group A.

Cameroon started the game with energy and poise, keeping the score close through the first two quarters. However, the third and fourth quarters saw a dramatic decline in their performance, as they struggled both offensively and defensively. A series of costly turnovers and lackluster defense allowed Senegal to shift the momentum in their favor.

One standout performance came from Ouseynou Sambe, who played a key role in Senegal's offensive push. Sambe dropped 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds, providing the spark his team needed to break through Cameroon's faltering defense. Senegal’s players were quick to exploit Cameroon's weaknesses, extending their lead through fast breaks and effective ball movement.

Cameroon's second-half slump, marked by defensive lapses and an unorganized offense, left them vulnerable to Senegal’s aggressive attacks. Their inability to recover in the latter stages of the game rendered them unrecognizable from the team that initially kept the contest competitive. They lost 72-56

With this victory, Senegal cruise to the knockout rounds with Cameroon now hoping to qualify as one of the best 3rd-place teams to continue their journey in the tournament.
