Jeunesse Club D’Abidjan Maintains Perfect Record As They Drilled The Oilers In Final Group Game Of Road To BAL

Jeunesse Club d’Abidjan (JCA) sealed their place in the Road to BAL Elite 16 round following a comprehensive 76-47 victory over Liberia's LPRC Oilers in their final Group B fixture at the Palais des Sports, Treichville, Abidjan.

Ulrich Mohamed Kra produced one of his best games of the campaign for the JCA Kings as he posted 24 points, his highest in a game since the competition started, grabbed five rebounds - all in the defense, made one assist and was able to utilise points from the charity line, scoring six points out of his eight attempts. Mahamane Coulibaly was also brilliant for the hosts as he contributed 15 points, six rebounds and provided three assists in the comfortable outing. For LPRC Oilers, Lassina Sidibe and Anthony Quadri combined for 12 points in the heavy loss.

The Oilers got on the board first in the opening quarter with a three-pointer from John Davids right inside the first minute. A quick two-point layup by Babatunde Williams and Brian Bridgeforth swung the way in favor of the home side at 4-3. Afterwards, their defensive pressure kept the Oilers' offensive moves stuck while a balanced scoring attack kept the scoreboard ticking over consistently.

Despite a resilient effort from the Liberian champions, JCA maintained their composure and momentum throughout the opening quarter to win 19-8.

In the second quarter, the Liberians fought back strongly to stay close in the game as they improved on their shooting and forced the home side into turnovers and some unconvinced shooting, edging the second quarter by four points (16-12) as both teams head into the break at halftime with JCA leading by seven points (31-24).

The dominance in the paint and superior ball movement ensured the margin never looked threatened in the third quarter with JCA stretching their lead convincingly as they ran out 23-11 winners, leaving the Liberian champions struggling in the final quarter as they trailed by 19 points (54-35).

There were no dramatic comebacks in the final quarter as JCA maintained its dominance and won comfortably by 22-12 points to close out on a 76-47 victory.

With the win, Jeunnes Club D'Abidjan finished with a perfect 3-0 in the group phase and will be looking to build on the momentum when they get to play more games in the next round. In the end, JCA posted 29 points from fast breaks as against the Oilers’ 14, they also dominated the paint with 44 points, against 32 and registered 26 points off turnovers with Oilers only managing 18 points in the defeat.
