Ferroviario Maputo beat FAP 62–43 in a tense game, breaking FAP’s early defence with Destiny Pitts’ scoring and Ingvild Mucauro’s leadership. Despite Tientcheu and Beggi's 21 points, FAP’s offence lacked flow, allowing Ferroviario to control from the third quarter.

In a one-sided game, FAP again tried to rely on their strong defence. However, they couldn't ultimately stop Ferroviario Maputo's smooth offence, especially in the second half. The final score was 62–43 in favour of the champions, as Ferroviario continued their perfect streak in the group stage.
From the tip-off, FAP demonstrated they meant business defensively. The first quarter finished 14–8 in favour of Ferroviario, a low-scoring start that highlighted FAP's pressure and intensity. For a moment, it seemed their defence might be sufficient to contain the winners, but the lead was fragile, and as Ferroviario adjusted, cracks began to appear.
By the third quarter, FAP's offence, which had appeared stagnant (scoring only eight points in Q3), failed to capitalise on defensive stops. Although there were moments of promise, especially from Josiane Tientcheu and I. Beggi, who together scored 21 key points, FAP struggled with consistency and couldn't effectively challenge Ferroviario.
Once Ferroviario found its groove, it never looked back. Mucauro's leadership and scoring, along with other key contributions, began to swing momentum. Meanwhile, star guard Destiny Pitts was clinical, dropping 21 points and showing the poise and efficiency that define champions.
The Mozambican side outscored FAP in three of four quarters and managed to build and sustain a comfortable lead through smart ball movement, disciplined shot selection and timely execution, particularly as the defensive pressure from FAP repeatedly broke down.
For FAP, Tientcheu and Beggi provided offensive sparks, but their efforts weren't enough to carry the team across the line. Their 21-point combined haul shows that, even when FAP's offence clicked, it lacked depth and support from the rest of the roster. Meanwhile, FAP shot poorly overall, particularly from beyond the arc and with limited efficiency — a stat line they'll want to improve on if they hope to stay competitive in the group stage.
On Ferroviario's side, Pitts was the star, but she wasn't alone. The veteran Mucauro helped steady the ship, gave structure to the offence, and her experience showed when it mattered. The collective, not the individual , approach proved decisive.
Mucauro had this to say:
I think we started the game very badly not that kind of game. We made a lot of mistakes in the first and the second quarter. we missed a lot of three-pointers and that was the bad part of the game. At the end of the day we won that's what we wanted to do in this game.
This loss leaves FAP at 0–2 in Group B of the FIBA Women's Basketball League Africa 2025, already a tough hole to climb out of. Their defence, while impressive at times, cannot carry them on its own. Offensively, they will need better balance, more consistent support beyond their top two contributors, and sharper shot selection.
There is still time for FAP to bounce back, but if they want to challenge for a place in the next round, they must refine their offensive execution and find a rhythm while maintaining the defensive intensity that defines them.
