FAP Finish with 3-0 Records En Route to WBLA Qualification, Beating Overdose 68-59

In a full-on Cameroonian brawl, FAP clinched their place in the 2025 FIBA Women's Basketball League Africa (WBLA), finishing with a ruthless 3-0 record, culminating in a gritty 68-59 victory over Elite Seniors Dames league rivals Overdose. The clash saw FAP turn up the heat, rolling over their opponents while delivering their trademark intensity.

From the tip-off, FAP set the tone. After conceding a 17-14 lead in the opening quarter, they regrouped and asserted control with composure. By halftime, their defensive scheme had tightened, limiting Overdose to just 12 points in the second quarter while stretching their lead to 28-26. The third quarter was the decisive stretch: FAP outscored their rivals 23-16, putting daylight between the two squads and forcing Overdose into a chase that never truly materialised.

The final quarter turned into a test of nerve and will. Overdose, refusing to lie down, mounted sporadic attacks and trimmed the gap to single digits. But FAP's hunger, fired by their national pride and previous wins in the qualifying run, proved decisive. They held firm, closed out the contest and earned the three-game sweep that sealed qualification.

For FAP, the script read: win, win, win. Their undefeated streak in this phase shows more than momentum; it signals maturity and focus. The team, known for its physicality and cohesion, showed that they don't rely solely on hype but on execution. Their rebounding, defence and timely scoring runs all converged. FAP scored 10 straight and led for over six minutes in one stretch, demonstrating how they can dominate when the gears engage.

Overdose Up Station, while spirited and hungry, couldn't match the discipline or depth of FAP. They planted seeds of hope, especially early on and in spurts during the fourth quarter, but lacked the consistency to knock over the Cameroonian side. Veteran center Mbong Larissa stepped up with 18 points and nine rebounds, but it wasn't enough to send Overdose to the next phase of the competition. The defeat stings, but for viewers, it reinforced FAP's strength and determination. FAP converted 83.3 % at the free-throw line, underscoring their composure in clutch moments. Tamko Raissa was in the game, dropping 20 points for FAP.

What does this mean in the bigger picture? FAP's straight-set win sends a clear message: they're ready to contend on the continental stage. The Cameroonian champions aren't here to make up numbers; they're here to challenge. The sweep gives them confidence, momentum and a clean slate heading into the finals in Cairo.

As for Overdose, the road doesn't end here. They'll regroup, reassess and return hungrier. Their campaign may have taken a blow, but this game highlighted where improvements are needed, particularly in closing out quarters and matching sustained pressure.

FAP Women took care of business in style. With three straight wins, including this 68-59 playoff over Overdose Up Station, they've locked up their ticket and arrived in the big league ready to rumble. Cameroonian basketball fans will be watching, and so will the rest of Africa.
