Central African Republic

The Charles de Gaulle School welcomed a special visit from Serge Singha, President of the Central African Basketball Federation (FCBB), who came to deliver basketballs and sports equipment to the enthusiastic students of the school’s sports studies section.

This innovative program stems from a collaboration agreement between the FCBB and the Lycée Français of Bangui, aiming to integrate basketball more deeply into the educational system. The initiative embodies the Federation’s broader vision: to promote basketball from the grassroots level by encouraging its practice within schools.

Beyond athletic development, the program carries a strong educational purpose. Through basketball, students learn key life values such as discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, qualities that serve them both on and off the court.

By supporting schools in training and identifying young talent, the Central African Basketball Federation reaffirms its commitment to the long-term growth of the sport in the country.

This partnership marks a significant step toward nurturing a new generation of players who combine academic excellence with athletic passion, ensuring that basketball remains not just a game, but a powerful tool for education and social development in the Central African Republic.

Cameroon

In the Road to BAL preliminary team participation lists released by FIBA Africa, one notable name is missing: BEAC Basketball. The Cameroonian club’s absence from the lists for the upcoming Zone 4 qualifiers has left the local basketball community questioning whether the team will compete at all.

The silence from BEAC’s front office only fuels the speculation. While some reports suggest that players have stopped attending training sessions, this information has not been verified. The club has yet to release an official statement confirming or denying its withdrawal, nor has it explained any possible reasons behind it. This atmosphere of uncertainty once again highlights one of the key motivations behind the NBA’s push to make the Basketball Africa League (BAL) a closed franchise — to ensure stability and continuity among participating teams.

On a brighter note, FAP Women’s Basketball is finalising preparations for the 2025 Zone 4 qualifiers of the Women’s Basketball League Africa (WBLA) in Kinshasa, DR Congo. Reinforcing their already dominant championship-winning roster, FAP will add 25-year-old guard Chinelo Lucy, a former Alabama State University standout. Her arrival promises to strengthen FAP’s ambitions to make a strong continental statement.
