Following an eventful opening window, FIBA African has now officially confirmed that the second phase of the 2027 FIBA World Cup African Qualifiers will shift continental focus eastward to Egypt and southwestward to Senegal.
Window 1 of the qualifiers took place in Rades, Tunisia, during November 2025 across a highly competitive four-day schedule. Eight nations, split into Groups A and C, competed for early group positioning, with South Sudan and Guinea finishing atop their respective groups.
Individually, Guinea guard Shannon Evans leads all scorers, averaging 22.7 points per game across contests. Rwanda and EuroLeague big man David McCormack dominates the glass, posting 15.5 rebounds per outing. Libya's Mohamed Sadi led all playmakers with eight assists per game, while teammate Adrees Zeew led Window 1 with 3.3 steals.

Window 2 will run from February 26th through March 1st, across another demanding four-day window. According to FIBA Africa, Dakar has been chosen to host Group B as Senegal welcomes continental competition home, following their bronze medal finish at FIBA Men's AfroBasket 2025. Côte d'Ivoire, DR Congo, and Madagascar round out a balanced, but potentially volatile group.
Though Egypt has been confirmed to host the Group D game, the specific host city has not yet been announced, with many reports suggesting it will be either Alexandria or Cairo. Egypt, Angola, Mali, and Uganda will compete for positions in Group D and the phase two bragging rights.

Egypt will be joined by 2025 FIBA Men's AfroBasket champions Angola, Mali, and Uganda. Meanwhile, organisers have not yet announced host nations for Window Three scheduled from July two through five.
